Fox News Sunday

It was time for Marco Rubio to be interviewed on this Fox Sunday political talk show.

I wish I could post here some extreme wisdom from Rubio but it was more of the same. Rubio does tend to talk real fast and as someone else once remarked, he resembles, at times, a used car salesman.

NBC’s- Meet the Press

Couple of interesting things going on via this perennial political Sunday talk show.

sf1.24.16sundaypolihillaryFirst, both Hillary and Sanders were interviewed. I thought Hillary looked quite fetching and she did well during the interview.

Around the pundit table, here’s an interesting tidbit. David Brooks, alleged Conservative, lives right around the corner from me, is no more Conservative than Bernie Sanders.

Anyway, Brooks swore that the Republican nominee will be Marco Rubio.

We shall see how well Brooks knows Republican voters.

CBS’ Face the Nation

The most interesting tidbit about this show was the telephone interview of Donald Trump when the issue of the National Review was published, the issue meant to bring down Donald Trump.

sf1.24.16sundaypolinationalreviewTrump made me smile, as is his wont, when he said the truth-Lord how they hate that. For as Trump said, the National Review IS a failing publication, riding all these years on the writing genius of William F. Buckley and now populated by wimps like Rich Lowry and the like.

I read National Review Online but will now NOT bother because I consider what they did, ganging up on a reputable candidate, to be narrow and mean. William F. Buckley would never espouse such a thing.

Donald Trump was interviewed via telephone and for a smile Trump responded that he is a friend of New York’s former Mayor Bloomberg. There was a little scuffle as words raised that questioned why a Republican like Trump would like a liberal like Bloomberg.

sf1.24.16sundaypolibloombergTrump quickly quieted everyone down, declaring that, as everyone else on the planet, Trump thought Bloomberg a very nice man, that he-Trump- was a New Yorker and that he owned big buildings in that city and had to get along with the Mayor.

Donald Trump handled the Bloomberg matter very well.

Political Cartoon of the Week

ABC’s This Week

Only one thing of note for this show this week and that was the vignette of Bob Woodruff.

Bob was a news reporter for ABC news and was hit horribly by a roadside bomb while on duty in Afghanistan.

Since then he has recovered and is very involved with organizations serving wounded veterans.

It was an inspiring story, told very well.

CNN’s State of the Union

Hands down the best show of the day was CNN’s “State of the Union”.

Couple of good tidbits as Tapper took on New Jersey governor Chris Christie and Jeb Bush.

First, Chris Christie, what with this snow storm from hell, is getting a lot of free publicity, no?

Guy’s all over the country getting ready for Iowa when he hurries home to save his state.

Ok, removing tongue from cheek, sure he had to go home, it’s a Governor’s job to lead the people. Still, it seems a bit opportunistic, no?

The most intriguing question of the day asked by Tapper of Christie was what we are to make of his approval ratings in New Jersey now down to 31%. Christie tsk-tsk’ed this low number, saying that his favorability ratings are falling because he is running for President.

Say what?

I understand some citizens getting some ire over the elected leader running off to run for election but this has been the case since there were elections. I’m not sure this is the reason why Christie’s favorability rating is falling so low.

But’s it’s interesting. Let Christie began attack Trump and The Donald will for sure bring it up.

Jeb Bush was also interviewed by Tapper and one interesting exchange involved a video clip from somewhere back in the eighties. Jeb defended choice in the matter of abortion and declared that no way would a woman’s right to choose be taken away from her.

Bush responded, admirably I thought, that times have changed, that ultra-sound has shown unborn babies to be very real in a way that wasn’t available before.

Finally, Tapper asked Bush WHERE THE HELL IS HIS BROTHER!!!

Does anybody remember the Florida election in 2000 when George W. Bush was declared the winner in Florida? During the cheering Dubya was calling for his brother Jeb but Jeb was nowhere around. Jeb Bush’s disappearance right when his brother was announced as President was very odd, I thought so at the time and am now more convinced.

Cause everybody with a chromosome knows that Jeb Bush is in all kind of trouble for his run for the Republican presidential nomination. Now here’s this guy with a brother who was once President for eight years and we’ve yet to hear a peep out of the guy! No one else thinks that’s odd?

Jeb waffled, declaring that his brother will soon be around and cheering him on.

Keep a close eye on this. I think those two brothers are, and have always been, at mortal odds with each other.

My Take

Lots of whispers about the situation in the Democratic presidential primary.

Let us begin with the possibility that Hillary Clinton will be indicted for this email thing. I do NOT believe this though I very much think she should be thrown in jail, let us bear in mind that this is Hillary Clinton, queen of the universe, she who does what she wants no mind silly rules meant for others.

In addition, the bigger looming danger to Hillary is Bill Clinton himself. Because if those Republican contenders don’t make an issue of those women from Bill’s past that suffered brand of sexual nastiness then were dismissed by this same Queen of the universe.

Biden is again making sounds that he’d like to join back up, and now Bloomberg is making allusions to running as an Independent.

The thing to look out for this week is this show down of the Democratic candidates. Will Bernie take the lead? Will Hillary lose in Iowa and New Hampshire? If she does, what will be her electoral future?

Political junkees should hunker down, get some popcorn and see how it goes.

I do not respond to comments on my posts. I certainly have no problem with such commentary and, indeed, encourage it. But I’ve written my piece and I don’t want to argue it further.

Please feel free to email me at patfish1@aol.com if you want to send me a special comment or have any ideas or information you want to share.

NEXT : Couple of interviews with some local politicos. Mark Schaeffer running for Sussex county council and Bob Mitchell, running for Representative for Delaware’s 35th Representative district. Got some amazing insights.
