Political Gossip and Tidbits Wandering About The Small Wonder That is Delaware- The 2/6/16 Edition

Lafferty campaign in violation, Bonini not so Conservative, they found Coons’ car and much more tidbits filled with snark and laughs.

Lafferty Campaign Fined

sf1.2.16notablelaceylaffertyI will raise my hand with anyone who questions the efficiency of Delaware’s Election Commissioner’s office. I’d rather hang by my tongue in a beehive than fill out a campaign finance report as set up in Delaware.

And yes, I did it once. Like I said, I’ll never do it again.

They use some kind of spreadsheet to track campaign items and it’s excruciating to work with.

I had to work with Elaine Manlove and she is a delightful person and very helpful. The problem is that she should not have to be sitting down with every boobaloob like myself (and I’m an Accountant and was confused all to hell!) and explain how to enter the items on this horrible spreadsheet.

The story is that there was a mistake in the filing and all has been corrected. It was a computer glitch and hey, I believe it.

Lafferty tells Delaware 105.9 that reports were filed and the issue is not her fault, blaming a computer glitch.

In a statement to Delaware 105.9, Election Commissioner Elaine Manlove confirms the issue, stating there was a problem discovered on the department’s side with Lafferty’s 2014 report.

They Found Coons’ Car!

I covered the theft of Delaware Senator Chris Coons’ car in this Blog post.

It’s kind of old news now but let us follow up by saying they found his car, an SUV left running in the Coons’ driveway, all nice and warmed up for the thieves.

So far, no arrests have been made.

The vehicle didn’t sustain any damage.

Video Touts Georgetown, Del

They didn’t mention the part of Georgetown that looks like a Mexican barrio.

Interesting Email

I get all kinds of emails and welcome them. Here’s a quote from such an interesting email on one Senator Colin Bonini, who I instinctively do not trust. Maybe I will call him up for an interview.

We have a conservative traitor in our Republican camp. None other than the career establishment Republican Governor (YES MAN) candidate who thinks John Carney would make a great governor therefore he agrees with John Carney’s progressive liberal ideology and legislative decisions.

Who might that be? None other than Senator Colin Bonini in his own words below:

Click on the link – Titled: The Delaware Way – Sen. Colin Bonin

Pay particular notice to the time beginning at 2:15 through 3:30 in the video bar. OH MY GOSH, does this sound like he is pandering and endorsing his opponent!

Senator Colin Bonini further followed with the same statement in The News Journal newspaper regarding John Carney’s gubernatorial announcement. He definitely is a John Carney supporter and FAN!

Are you going to allow yourself to be duped into a undermining backroom deal between Democrat John Carney and Republican Colin Bonin just like Republican Allen Levin and Democrat Gov. Jack Markell did in 2008? Can you look your children in the eye and tell them YOU are going to secure them a future full of hope and prosperity when these guys are planning to line their pockets with your money!

My State Congress Critters WGMD

I’d like to recommend that yon readers tune into WGMD on Wednesday mornings from 7:00 am to 8:30 am as I did sf1.1.15notablesenatorpettyjohnthis past week on 2/3/16.

So okay, both of these gentlemen represent ME and thus my major interest. But any Delawarean would benefit by tuning in because both of these guys do a real nice job of explaining their votes, all things Delaware legislature and handling phone-in callers.

Smyk is a Representative of the 20th Representative district and gives a view from the Delaware House. Pettyjohn is state Senator from Delaware’s 19th senatorial district and he knows his stuff. Between the two of them it’s a hour or so of interesting perspectives.

This past week they discussed Delaware’s obsession with removing the death penalty, not that Delawareans are burning up the legislative switchboards wanting repeal of the death penalty but Markell asks “How high?” when Obama says “Jump!”

Delaware repealed the death penalty once before and guess what? IT GOT PUT BACK!

Learn something you silly legislators jumping high to Markell’s command.

And am I to understand that Senator Lopez voted FOR the repeal of the death penalty?

Capital One Lays Off 100 Workers

I traveled upstate with a friend recently, south of Wilmington, near Christiana Mall.

She took me to her old neighborhood and goodness it looked like any fine suburban haven.

We then drove around and passed a closed DuPont plant and friend explained that a General Motors plant down the road also sat silent.

Delaware used to be a friend to business.

What happened? Wait! I know! Democrats!

From WXDE:

Spokeswoman Julie Rakes tells our sister station WDEL that employees were given two months’ notice and have been encouraged to apply for other open jobs within the company. Rakes says they’re hiring for a “few hundred” positions in Wilmington and other jobs across the country.

Employees who aren’t rehired or don’t want another job with Capital One will be eligible for a severance package.

News of the layoffs comes on the heels of DuPont cutting 1,700 jobs in Delaware ahead of its merger with Dow.

Sussex GOP Hosting Mock Election

I will not, THIS TIME, tell the rather odd story about this plan of action.

But there seems to have been some miscommunication at Sussex GOP headquarters….I’m jus’ sayin’.

I first found out about this via Kelli Steele’s Facebook post:

The Sussex County GOP will hold a three day mock election “straw poll” March 29 and 30, to let Sussex Republicans have their voices be heard before the Presidential Primary in Delaware on April 26.

All registered Republican voters in Sussex County are invited and encouraged to cast a ballot. To participate, voters must come to the Sussex GOP Headquaters on East Market Street in Georgetown between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on one of the Mock Election days. Participants must provide a Voter Registration Card or other identification to verify their registration. Votes from this mock election will be counted on Friday, 1 April, and the results will be announced that afternoon at the GOP headquarters.

For those who are not Republicans, but would like to vote in this mock election and the Presidential Primary, the deadline to change your party affiliation is February 26.

If you’re NOT registered, the deadline for registering for the Presidential Primary is April 2.

I think it’s a great idea and heard Billy Carroll on WGMD describing it all to Duke Brooks.

But really, EVERYBODY should be notified of such a grand endeavor.

I’m jus’ sayin’.

New County Profile Magazine

So we have a new Sussex county profile magazine?

I just don’t know what this is all about but I kind of like it.

I got the perfect person to be interviewed right from the start….ME!

Widow woman gets NO JUSTICE in Sussex county courts, must tear down her fence and pay thousands of dollars for doing nothing wrong….much more!

Hell yeah, I’ll do it.

Matt Parker, Don Dykes, County Councilman Rob Arlett & Brian Shannon attended the unveiling of the 2016 Sussex County Profile Magazine in Georgetown DE.

I do not respond to comments on my posts. I certainly have no problem with such commentary and, indeed, encourage it. But I’ve written my piece and I don’t want to argue it further.
Please feel free to email me at patfish1@aol.com if you want to send me a special comment or have any ideas or information you want to share.

NEXT : Sunday Political talk shows and we will discuss tonight’s Republican debates
