It’s a jam packed weekend of political junkiness that includes death of a Supreme court judge, declarations of presidential malfeasance during the Republican debate and possible new Supreme court nominees. Click in, we’re covering it all.
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio; Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Republican presidential candidates Donald Trump; John Kasich; Rubio.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Trump, Rubio, Sanders.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Kasich, Rubio, Sanders.
STATE OF THE UNION (CNN): Rubio; Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush. .
The CBS Republican Debate on 2/13/16.
Indeed I did watch the Republican debates the day before Valentine’s Day 2016, on CBS.
OMG these final candidates are brutal and the most brutal is Donald Trump and his mean wordage against the George Dubya Bush administration.
Goodness Trump shouted that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, that one the biggest mistakes ever was invading Iraq, on and on until Jeb Bush almost cried that Trump keeps picking on his family.
Of course NONE of the shouts are totally true. There were, as reported by the UN nuclear people and all the spy agencies, weapons of mass destruction in Iraq though Saddam was great at hiding them.
Also Saddam was a real pain in the butt in that area of the world.
From the FreeRepublic poster I fondly refer to as AB, from the link above, what is possibly the most concise and accurate definition of the mistakes made by George Dubya Bush.
It was never attacking and killing Saddam Hussein that was the issue. He NEEDED killing. He opposed us, took shots at our guys in Operation Provide Comfort and the UN mandated NO FLY Zone force. For that alone–dead.
And flying around trying to keep him under wraps led to Islamic Kook outrage about us in the so-called Holy Land of Saudi Arabia (not our holy land, theirs). Thus the first World Trade Center bombing, Khobar Towers, Nairobi and Tanzania bombings, many more here and there, and finally 9/11…
At that point Dubya had no choice. You don’t mess with the US.
However, after it was over, it was the nation building crap, the Islam is the Religion Of Peace nonsense that wore me down. And the democrats played Bush on this for political gains, the bastards. While Bush and Powell instituted it (Powell’s “You break it, you own it” dictum), the dems would have screamed bloody outrage if we just walked away and left behind chaos and a vacuum Iran could walk into, even though, 5 years later, that was exactly what Obama did.
Religion of Peace. SPIT! Islam is WHY Bin Laden attacked us. Leaders of Muslim nations can be our friends but their religion calls us all INFIDELS, and their Holy Book DEMANDS they make war on us. Let us call a spade a spade.
After the disaster of (post-Saddam) Iraq, Libya, Egypt and Syria, I realized that brutally strong but weakly Muslim dictators are NEEDED in these countries to keep the rabid religionists on a tight leash.
We should have just replaced Saddam with an equally mean dictator, but one that was OUR dog.
TIL–Things I Learned–about Middle East Secular Tyrants.
George Dubya Bush failed totally at making his case to the American people and after many years of pounding on by the Democrats, that silly mantra becomes the truth.
As expected, many of the Sunday political talks shows dwelt on the debate but also the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, more on this in My Take.
NBC’s- Meet the Press
The most interesting exchange on this Sunday political talk show was the exchange between Al Sharpton about Bernie Sanders and the word “Black”.
Thanking me very much for reading between the lines, note that the new carefully approached word is “reparations”. Because that is what is expected of Bernie Sanders, and partly the reason the stupid state of Delaware apologized for slavery. Reparations…in other words money for descending from slaves to people of color some give generations ago.
Can you imagine such a thing? All descendants of slaves line up to get their money and of course there will be Elizabeth Warren types and that nut job head of the NAACP white as cotton.
A clip of Sanders being chastised by a voter for being afraid of the word “Black” was seconded by Al Sharpton, who looks so skinny he seems near death’s door.
Sheesh, such silly stuff to waste time on.
CBS’ Face the Nation
On CBS’ Face the Nation we had Bernie Sanders once again. Trump was also a guest and he is sticking to his ridicule of George Dubya Bush and that administration’s handling of the Middle East after the attacks of 9-01-11.
Political Cartoon of the Week
ABC’s This Week
Upon questions about the Supreme court vacancy viewers are treated to three possible nominees by President Obama!
One of them, SRI with a long last name, was depicted as approved for his current position by 97 members of the Senate, served in the George Dubya administration and is generally like by the Republicans.
It got me to thinking, well what would the Republican justification be with this nominee to refuse even a vote?
Kasich too was a guest on this show and as always, he was unlikeable. “Debates are stupid,” Kasich declared.
They are stupid to him because he always does bad in them.
Pundit Peggy Noonan had an interesting take on the most recent Republican debate. She said the final six are rough and tough and ready to rumble. She said Donald Trump is venturing into Code Pink territory, which makes no sense to me.
CNN’s State of the Union
The Jake Tapper replacement on this show asked Marco Rubio about that possible Supreme court nominee for Supreme court, the guy with the 3 letter first name.
Rubio supposedly voted for him when he was nominated for federal court so why would he not vote for this guy for the Supremes?
The death of Antonin Scalia is going to change the face of politics for the next year on its head.
There is so much on the line now.
First of all, it will be over a year with a Supreme court vacancy though I don’t give a damn…..any guy wearing a robe automatically finds me guilty for breathing. I don’t much like any of them.
President Obama even interrupted a round of golf to tell the world that he has every intention of putting in a Supreme court nomination as is his constitutional authority.
Guy brags about his constitutional authority when it suits him but hell, uses executive orders when that same constitution doesn’t go his way.
A really classy thing for the Democrats to do is to agree to wait until the next president is elected before nominating a replacement for Scalia.
Then, whether Democrat or Republican President, the will of the people will be better-represented.
Of course the Democrats have no class, let us set that up right now.
The Republicans, in the form of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, say they won’t even look at an Obama replacement for Scalia. And believe that the Republicans probably don’t have the gonads to take the heat the media will inevitably pour upon them.
“Why won’t you at least vote on an Obama replacement?” already they are out and about and whining.
This is going to be interesting and God bless Antonin Scalia. He was a great Supreme Court Justice and might have, had he ever met me, NOT found me guilty of existence.
I do not respond to comments on my posts. I certainly have no problem with such commentary and, indeed, encourage it. But I’ve written my piece and I don’t want to argue it further.
